Summer VolunTEEN Program
The following 2020 VolunTEEN Program Orientations and Fingerprinting dates have been canceled:
Saturday, March 28th at East Anaheim Community Center
The City of Anaheim and venues across the city are moving forward with plans to reflect California’s new statewide policy for public gatherings issued late Wednesday by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Out of an abundance of caution for our patrons and residents, we are deferring activities, events and non-essential gatherings of 250 or more people through at least March 31 to help stem the spread of coronavirus across the state. We will continue to provide updates on our website www.anaheim.net/coronavirus and thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
All remaining orientations will take place digitally and/or over a conference call:
Saturday, March 28th at 10:00 a.m.
Thursday, April 9 at 5 p.m.
Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, May 5 at 5 p.m.
Thursday, May 7 at 5 p.m.
If you were planning on attending one of the above dates, please contact Anaheim Community Services at email@example.com or call 714-765-4994 to receive the mandatory handouts and specific instructions on how to attend orientation.
The Anaheim Community Services Department provides teens, 13 - 17 years of age, the opportunity to give back to their community and earn service hours through the summer VolunTEEN Program. Teens can volunteer at various summer programs throughout Anaheim, including O.A.K.S. Summer Day Camp, Wilderness Survival Camp, Tiny Tots Academy, Summer Nights Under the Stars at Pearson Park Amphitheatre, East Anaheim Gymnasium, S.T.A.R.S. After School Program and the Fun on Wheels Mobile Recreation Program.
Applicants must be 13 years of age. Because of limited space, Anaheim residents and students of Anaheim schools will be given priority placement.
- Submit a completed application packet to the Community Services Department at Anaheim City Hall (4th floor) or during an orientation.
- Attend an orientation. All new and returning VolunTEENS MUST attend an orientation with a parent or guardian as part of the application process.
- Submit a TB clearance that is no more than 2 years old.
- First time applicants must be fingerprinted for background checks. Fingerprinting can be done by appointment at designated locations and dates or at one of the orientations. See below for more details.
The Community Services Department is required to have volunteers' TB clearance on file. All applicants are required to submit a copy of a TB clearance slip dated within the last two years (2018 - present will be accepted for the summer 2020 program) at the time of application submission. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the test.
State Law AB 1663 requires all recreation program volunteers be fingerprinted for a background check and cleared by the California Department of Justice before placement. Fingerprinting is available at not cost and must be completed by City of Anaheim staff.
