Energy Storage Project

A new project is in the works, designed to help enhance Anaheim’s energy capability and deliver clean, renewable power to our community. The Energy Storage Project will alleviate grid constraints when solar energy stops producing when the sun sets.  Energy will be stored in batteries during off hours in the middle of the day when renewable energy is most abundant and discharge during peak hours in the early evening. 

how it works

Features

  • The project is capable of powering 10,000 homes when discharging energy. 
  • The batteries that make up this project are the same batteries used in a smartphone or an electric car. 
  • This project will be surrounded by a twenty-foot-high safety perimeter wall.   

Location

  • This project will be located within the Edwards Utilities Complex, located at 909 E. Vermont Ave. 
  • A community project information meeting will be held in the fall of 2022 with construction scheduled to begin late 2023.
